What Do You Call Summer?

Comments

Aw gee thanks! And here it is a grey old day - and that's not just the whiskers or that this is the last sub-50 birthday either. Low foggy cloud all day. Saturday was quite different - beautifully sunny but it took until 11am for the thermometer to climb over freezing. Also on Saturday Ben decided to come out to the pub with me (All Blacks 14 v France 10 for those that care) and he's obviously growing up - his present to me was to shout me two beers!
And "summer" is (very) loosely defined (in my mind at least) as that period of time from when seniors leave in mid-November until a week or so before the end of daylight saving in April. (Technically its Dec - Jan - Feb but that doesn't seem like long enough when the sun shines until 8:30pm and it is still bright at 10:30pm!) Next week I'm away with Telecom again in Auckland. I need a new phone (mine's held together with sellotape) and Telecom have just launched a new 3G mobile network so I sense an upgrade coming along. Something that can link to my Google toys would be perfect.

sub-50! Now that my brain isn't paralysed by fear of pain, I can do maths again.

Another family definition of summer is the shortest interval in any 12 month period between swims in the lake or canyoning in the Motutapu River.
